I tested how to make paper out of waste material. In my experiment the pulp didn't work as I hoped, but in my research I show many examples that it can be done. Making paper is really a craft, and to make this into a packaging I still have a long way to go. In this 3 week period I did not have enough time to try making the paper again. So to still continue I created the packaging and paper material digitally. For now I focussed on the two variants I also used in my testing experiments, but of course the packaging can be made in many more editions. In the diagram below you can see how the paper would be made and can be biodegrade (the more extended version of the diagram can be seen on the 'theory' page where I made a mapping and ice berg model).

After thinking of the cycle how the paper can be made into packaging, I started visualising a brand. I started this idea, with as a result of the Corona-virus, when people where more ordering food and having take-aways. The packaging now mostly consists of small plastic cups and bags. I created a material that can substitute this excessive use of plastic. With this paper packaging made out of (already excisting) waste material the problem can be helped. The waste is already there so you don't need to add new material but make something out of this product that normally would just be thrown away.

To make this project more real I imagend a brand; Remnant. Remant means left-over/waste (overblijfsel/restant). This reflects the concept of using waste material as the main ingredient for the packaging. I made a logo and created a brand/company. Rement is a packaging supplier where the product is made from food waste.

Alongside you can see how the logo of Remnant will look like, with a nice plant/food (waste) design. Below the result of the packaging is shown. I created plates, cups, boxes, casings and bags. In these visuals the look and feel of the packaging is shown.
