Making a frame to make paper
I start with making a frame where I can make the paper in. I use two picture frames where I take the glass and back side out. Than I staple a screen on the frame, this will hold the pulp to make the paper. After making the frame I will start to make my own paper.
Cutting rest material
For this experiment I choose to use the green of a leek and the peels of an onion to make paper out of. I cut the usable parts from the vegetables and made a very nice quiche out of it. But for now I was not interested in the parts I used for eating put about the leftovers. I cut all the pieces to small sizes and put them in a bowl with water. I let them soak overnight to make the fibers more flexible. Like to also would do with the paper to make pulp.
Making paper out of waste material
After socking the material overnight it was time to try to make paper. First I put the material in a blender to make the pulp. This was more difficult than I hoped. So I also made a version where I boiled the leek and added potato starch to bind the material better. When I had my 'pulp' I used my selfmade frame to create the paper.
Drying the paper and result
This testing was really useful because I realized this proces is way more complicated than I anticipated. Make the frame was fun and I really enjoyed making the paper. But the material I used was not in the shape I wanted it to be. It didn't really attach to each other. Still I am glad I did this experiment just to see how the paper making world works. But the result is not the best (yet). If there was more time I really wanted to do this again, but maybe later with a professional course.

For now I know it can work to make paper out of waste material, but the experiment did not give the result of a piece of paper I want. So for now I will focus on my concept and idea how the packeging can look like and work with transportation. And look at other projects who did make the paper.
